All courses advertised here are official courses approved by William Glasser International and WGI certificates are awarded to the successful candidates. For those wishing to progress to the European Psychotherapy Certificate in Reality Therapy, full certification by WGI is essential.
The William Glasser Institute Ireland introduced online training at the beginning of the covid pandemic. Before applying for a specific course, we encourage you to note whether it is online, face-to-face or a mixture of both.
Applying Choice Theory to our own lives enhances wellbeing, and helping others with Reality Therapy or in education or management settings brings theory to life and has the potential to enhance the lives of all who use it.
This page will always show the latest information about forthcoming courses that are advertised to the public (“open courses”).
Note that a Basic Intensive Course can also be organised for a specific group. This is called a “closed course”. For further information about this please CONTACT WGII.
ONLINE courses require access to ZOOM on laptop or PC (phone or tablet apps will not be as effective).
BASIC TRAINING COURSES (Module 1)
The Basic Training Course is a stand-alone module that will give you ideas and skills that you can begin to use immediately in your work and life, but it can also be the first stage of the 5-stage process of Certification in Reality Therapy, accredited by William Glasser International. Basic Intensive Courses advertised here are open to the public.

PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS FOR BASIC TRAINING
- a copy of Dr Glasser’s last book: “Take Charge of Your Life”, whether on Kindle (current cost: €2.72) or in paperback (€11 online). This is the core textbook for the training course.
- attend all the sessions to attain the WGI Basic Course Certification, which is essential if they wish to continue on to further levels of training

BASIC PRACTICUM (Module 2)
The Basic Practicum Course continues from the Basic Training Course and helps trainees take their skills to a higher level through supervised practice, tuition, discussion and study. There is an emphasis on helping trainees incorporate Choice Theory into their own lives.

The Advanced Course aims to help trainees develop their own personal approach to using Choice Theory.

The Advanced Practicum is similar in format to the Basic Practicum with an emphasis on helping trainees hone their skills through practice and case studies.

CERTIFICATION COURSE (Module 5)
The Certification course is the final phase of Choice Theory/Reality Therapy training, an opportunity to share and celebrate the learning.
