Dublin Community Mediation

For some time now Dublin Community Mediation’s leadership has been exploring the value of Choice Theory Psychology in its training of mediators. DCM’s training covers a wide range of vital mediation skills and Choice Theory fits into their model very well. In July 2026 a starter group of 11 members completed their Basic Intensive training facilitated by WGI Senior Instructor Arthur Dunne. This is the first step towards full official RT/CT certification as recognised by the organisation that Dr. Glasser himself appointed to continue the teaching of his ideas.

Choice Theory Psychology and Reality Therapy provide an ideal structure for facilitating mediation. A core idea of Choice Theory is that each person controls his or her own life. This view implies that no one person can control another and this provides an excellent framework when helping several people sort out their conflicts. For the mediator or counsellor using Choice Theory it becomes easier to communicate the professional’s impartiality in the intervention.

We extend a hearty congratulations to the eleven mediators and especially to DCM Chairperson, John Mulligan, who invited WGII to provide the training. We are delighted to provide this training to such a wonderful voluntary organisation.
